One entry covers one team and one film.
Everything you need is emailed to you after the kickoff.
How the roulette works
1. Spin. At the kickoff on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, 7:00–10:00 PM at The Senate Theater, your team spins the Wheel of Horror. Wherever it lands is the sub-genre your film has to be. You may also land on a prize, or on a challenge of your own devising.
Can't make the kickoff? Request a digital wheel and spin it from wherever you are. Email info@horrorfilmroulette.com and we'll send you a link.
2. Film. You get four weeks to write, shoot and edit a horror short of five minutes or less. No extensions.
3. Submit. Upload through FilmFreeway before Friday, October 2, 2026 at 11:59 PM PST. Details are emailed to you after the kickoff.
4. Screen. The Top 25 films screen live at The Senate Theater on October 23, 2026. Judges and the audience both vote, and the winner takes the $2,000 grand prize.
Before you shoot
The filmmaker checklist walks through everything your film needs before the deadline: the sub-genre definitions, the talent release and location agreement forms, and the deliverables.
Good to know
Entries are non-refundable. Your sub-genre is whatever the wheel gives you; there are no re-spins. Films must be five minutes or under, including credits.
